Pricing on Makelab is dynamic and based on your actual part and configuration at the time of quote. It’s common for prices to fluctuate between orders due to several factors:
Part volume: Even minor edits to a 3D file can change volume (cm³), which directly impacts cost.
Material & print process: Different materials or switching from FDM to MJF, for example, come with different price points.
Lead time: Choosing faster turnarounds (Next-Day or Rush) incurs higher fees.
Settings & orientation: Re-selected settings like layer height or infill will shift pricing.
We recommend triple-checking your quote settings—material, print tech, resolution, lead time—and using our Instant Quote to get the most accurate, up-to-date pricing. Still unsure? Reach out and we’ll walk through it with you.
But also check your units selected- This usually happens when your file was modeled in inches but exported in millimeters—or vice versa. Our Instant Quote system reads files assuming millimeters by default. If your model was designed in inches and not properly converted, it will appear 25.4x smaller, resulting in a tiny part volume and an unusually low price (sometimes $1 or less).
