Supports are temporary structures used during 3D printing to stabilize features with overhangs beyond 45 degrees, which would otherwise collapse.
Support material is added to a 3D print when a feature extends with an overhang greater than 45 degrees. This temporary structure prevents parts of the model from sagging or collapsing during printing. After the print is complete, support material is easily removed, leaving a clean surface.
